چکیده
The vanishing of the cosmological constant and the absence of a massless dilaton might be explained by a duality between a supersymmetric string vacuum in three dimensions and a non-supersymmetric string vacuum in four dimensions.

de Sitter black hole with a conformally coupled scalar field in four dimensions
A four-dimensional black hole solution of the Einstein equations with a positive cosmological constant coupled to a conformal scalar field is given. There is a curvature singularity at the origin, and the scalar field has a divergence inside the event horizon. The electrically charged solution, which has a fixed charge-to-mass ratio, is also found. The quartic self-interacting coupling constant...
متن کاملThe Gravitational Instability of the Vacuum: Insight into the Cosmological Constant Problem
A mechanism for suppressing the cosmological constant is developed, based on an analogy with a superconducting phaseshift in which free fermions coupled perturbatively to a weak gravitational field are in an unstable false vacuum state. The coupling of the fermions to the gravitational field generates fermion condensates with zero momentum and a phase transition induces a nonperturbative transi...
متن کاملBulk Viscous Bianchi Type VI0 Cosmological Model in the Self-creation Theory of Gravitation and in the General Theory of Relativity
In the second self-creation theory of gravitation and in the general theory of relativity, Bianchi type VI0 cosmological model in the presence of viscous fluid is studied. An exact solution of the field equations is given by considering the cosmological model yields a constant decelerations parameter q=constant and the coefficients of the metric are taken as A(t)=[c1t+c<su...
متن کاملSpacetimes admitting quasi-conformal curvature tensor
The object of the present paper is to study spacetimes admitting quasi-conformal curvature tensor. At first we prove that a quasi-conformally flat spacetime is Einstein and hence it is of constant curvature and the energy momentum tensor of such a spacetime satisfying Einstein's field equation with cosmological constant is covariant constant. Next, we prove that if the perfect flui...
متن کاملCarbon Burning in Supernovae and Evolving Physical Constants
The C12{C12,α}Ne20 fusion reaction rate is shown to be extremely sensitive to variations in the strong coupling constant, αs. Connection with αs is established by using the one boson exchange potential for the nuclear forces and then relating the meson masses and coupling constants of this model to QCD. The implications of a cosmological evolution of these constants on carbon burning in Type 1a...
